Tahj Henry-Jackson, a freshman at Morehouse College, is a beneficiary of the Student Emergency Assistance Fund utilized in the wake of COVID-19 to provide direct aid to students experiencing hardship.

In his own words, "My laptop broke at the end of the first semester, so I was using the library...to go get my work done. Whenever the Coronavirus happened, came home, using my phone [to access online learning]...wasn't sure what to do. I got in touch with Dean Booker...literally the next day after being on the phone him I had a laptop at my front door. I'm extremely grateful and cannot express how grateful I am. I want to thank you Morehouse, I want to thank the donors, and everyone that has played a part in helping me during this difficult time."

This is just one example of the many ways your donation directly impacts the Men of Morehouse during this time of crisis. To date more than 200 students have received financial assistance. THANK YOU! 

You along with more than 700 generous donors have raised an astonishing $260,000 for the Emergency Student Assistance Fund so far. Thank you!

With little warning, the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted every aspect of our lives. The Men of Morehouse have moved off campus and are now completing this semester using remote learning. For many of our students, these unprecedented actions created not only a whirlwind of emotions and stress, but also very real financial hardships. 

The Division of Student Services has received more than 190 student requests for financial assistance to date, and thanks to your generous support has the funds necessary to help our students.

So far, approximately 85 percent of requests have been related to housing and food insecurity, with 15 percent for transportation and technology support. Thanks to you, these Morehouse students have safe places to stay, adequate meals, technology needed for remote learning, and transportation home to be with their loved ones. Requests are still being received and staff are working diligently to meet each student's unique needs.

During this time of uncertainty, we can sometimes feel overwhelmed and anxious about what lies ahead. However, the Morehouse community has demonstrated that in times of crisis, we stand together in brotherhood—providing hope and support to the young men we serve.
